So you’d like to write for Anti-Sell, huh? Read on!
Who should get in touch (and who shouldn’t… no offence)
I love the concept of guest blogging – both as a guest poster on other sites, and as a receiver of guest posts.
…And while a part of me is like “OMG great, come on-board!”, I work in SEO & content marketing, and so I know how heavily abused pages like this can get…
So let’s cut to the chase: if you have a post idea for a non-salesy sales/marketing/networking tactic, please get in touch. If it’s something that’ll fit well with the blog and that hasn’t been covered before, I may be back in touch to discuss specifics if I think it’s a good fit.
However if the pitch comes from a ‘sales guru’ (ugh), or it’s not thematically related to Anti-Sell, or it looks like you’re only in it for the SEOz, then it’s prooobably a no-go. Sorry. But I know that even by writing this I’ll still get bad-fit people getting in touch (I mean heck, one of my sites doesn’t even have a blog and yet I still receive guest blog post requests for it)…
I’m also more likely to accept a guest post from someone I already know rather than a complete stranger. So if we don’t yet know each other, it might be worth giving me a follow on Twitter and we can chat a bit on there first.
Mini-guidelines
There’s no super-detailed guidelines, but here’s a few pointers:
- Word count – There’s no maximum/minimum word count; I’m happy for posts to be as long or as short as they need to be. But it’ll be a ‘common sense’ type thing: if your ‘ultimate guide’ is 100 words long, then, well… no.
- Accreditation – I believe in accreditation. You’ve worked hard to give me a piece of content (which you could’ve just published yourself or given to someone else), and so you deserve to be credited properly. You’ll get a link to your main site, plus any others within reason – for example, if you have a professional website and a blog, and they’re both related to your guest post, then that’s fine. But if you wanna shoehorn 10 links to an assortment of sites then that’s probably not gonna happen.
- Other links – I’m also happy for links to appear throughout the copy – if it makes sense to do so (e.g. if they link out to other articles that back up your point). Like the point above, it’s not an excuse to just stick in a kazillion links. Because no one wants that.
- Disclaimery bit: these guidelines may change at any time yadda yadda yadda.
